Loving the sound of music as a youngster is what got Greg Madison involved in playing a musical instrument. It was this love of music that caused him to want something bad enough to work at it way above average. It made him develop patience, discipline and commitment to succeed at something stronger than anything before. This was the first time that Greg realized if you want something bad enough, you will find a way to get it through hard work. This taught him the way you can accomplish other things you want in life.
Greg Madison started out as a guitar player at age thirteen. Within the first three weeks, he already realized this is what he wanted to do for a profession. After a few years of lessons, he became involved with various bands playing church, school, and private affairs for hire. One of the bands he played in at age sixteen worked at writing original music. This band produced two singles, one of which got air time on major rock “n” roll stations. This band had a good potential to do some very nice things, but the work ethic of the band was its worst down fall and caused its demise.
It was at this time Greg Madison decided to pursue teaching guitar. Within a very short time as a teacher he realized he had a very natural ability to teach and motivate his students. His love of music and desire to help people became a very natural fit. Over many years of teaching and self learning he now plays and teaches over seventeen instruments in his Bergenfield, New Jersey studio. He teaches in the styles of rock, funk, blues, R & B, jazz, latin, bluegrass. folk, reggae, gospel, and more.
Greg Madison is one of the leading teachers in the field. He has taught musicians that have been playing in bands professionally in many different parts of the world. One of the great many joys of teaching come from students who tell him the interest he has created and that they intend to play for the rest of their lives. Many of these students have told him they had tried lessons in the past unsuccessfully and were glad they decided to try it again.
Greg Madison Music Publishing will be publishing books on several of the instruments and styles of music he plays.
